At the beginning of 2005, APCD started organizing a training course on "Information and Communication Technology for All: Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) for Print Disability" from 1-18 February 2005. The next training courses held were the "Refresher Training Course in Peer Counseling for People with Disabilities" from 1-4 March & 14-18 March 2005 and the "Training of Managerial Personnel of Independent Living Centers for Persons with Disabilities" from 1-18 March 2005.
APCD Networking and Collaboration sent a mission to co-organize a National Workshop "Towards an Inclusive, Barrier-free & Rights-based Society for Persons with Disabilities" in Santo, Vanuatu from 13-19 March 2005. APCD also co-organized the "Training of Trainers on the Promotion of a Non-handicapping Environment for Persons with Disabilities" with the National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons in Manila, the Philippines. Accordingly, the Networking and Collaboration team send a mission to Pakistan to attend the preparatory meeting for the 2nd Capacity-building of Self-help Organizations of Persons with Disabilities.
The APCD Information Support team continues to provide disability-related information network to focal and associate organizations in the Asia and Pacific regions as well as other disability-related information network centers. The next activity is to add three new country profiles, Bhutan, Samoa, and Sri Lanka as well as updating the previous 15 countries, which are available on the APCD website. To promote APCD information locally, APCD uploaded the Thai Version of the APCD website as a model.
