] [ ] [ ] APCD activities from October to December 2007 began with the Seminar on the Development of Persons with Disabilities in the Asia-Pacific Region on 29 November 2007 recognizing the partner relationship between Japan and Thailand. APCD and Organizing Committees had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Paiboon Wattanasiritham, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Development and Human Security, Royal Thai Government, and H.E. Mr. Hideaki Kobayashi, the Ambassador of Japan as well as Mr. Katsuji Onoda, JICA Resident Representative who presided over the opening ceremony. This occasion was also to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Japan-Thailand diplomatic relations.
For networking and collaboration activities, persons with intellectual disabilities accompanied an APCD mission team to Shanghai to participate in the "Regional Workshop on the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and their Families" from 11-13 October 2007 for networking and collaborative activities. Mission teams were also dispatched to countries in Central Asia as well as the Mekong Sub-region to empower and strengthen persons with hearing impairments as well as persons with learning and intellectual disabilities since they are the target groups for APCD's Phase II.
The Human Resource Development team has continued their work for domestic and regional training, such as, Education Material Production (EMP) and a Non-handicapping Environment Workshop (NHE). The Information Support team has shared and updated information related to disability with focal points and associate organizations.
