Report on a Follow-up Seminar for APCD Thai Ex-trainees
30 May - 1 June 2006

Thai ex-trainees in the group discussion APCD organized a seminar to follow up on APCD's Thai ex-trainees and be updated on their progress; to note how they applied their knowledge gained from APCD to expand their target areas, as well as build up networking and collaboration among Thai ex-trainees.

The activities for the 3 days included:

  • Disability Equality Training: training to encourage right attitudes on equality between persons with disabilities and non-disabled persons.
  • Simulation on traveling by the underground train to check the accessibility of the underground train system and visit the administrator of the underground train company for discussion and share ideas about improving accessibility of the underground train system for persons with disabilities.
  • Report of projects and activities of the 13 selected ex-trainees
  • An update on the movement of persons with disabilities in Thailand by inviting leaders of persons with disabilities to share their activities and news
  • Group activities to collaborate to improve the work of the participants

It was an excellent opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and most importantly, hear how they applied their learning in their target areas. They could build up their network and collaboration to develop their existing activities. APCD also received useful comments and suggestions on conducting training, follow-up, evaluation and ways to support themselves. All the participants agreed to publish a Thai newsletter, group website and co-ordinate regularly to share their information as well as support each other.
