This school for the deaf is been managed by Assisi Sisters of Mary Immaculate who provide pre-school training and educational facilities. There are currently 99 children enrolled in the school who reside on the premises. Other programs include, parental guidance and home training; audiology clinic; speech training program; early detection and guidance; vocational training in crafts such as tailoring, typing and computer applications.

The Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy Adult Training Center is located at the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) and was opened in 1992 to train adults with disability who can be absorbed into open or self-employment. Additionally, the Center augments the training skills of the severely intellectually disabled with cerebral palsy who are unable to participate in the training programs.

The Janey Centre for Special Education is a day school for mentally disabled children and provide rehabilitation to intellectually disabled children by preparing them for greater self-sufficiency and independent living, and to make them productive members of the society.

The Center provides training opportunities for young adults with intellectual disabilities in skill training with weaving, papermaking, tailoring, housekeeping and other job oriented activities stressed.

The Audiology and Speech Therapy Department provides training and placement rehabilitation through a four year training program in various trades.

The Center was established in 1989 and provides vocational training and placement facilities for women with disabilities in the age range of 15-35 years.

The Center provides non formal training in the areas of secretarial practice, radio and T.V. mechanics, coil winding, servicing of electronic equipment, auto repair, typesetting and book binding.

The Center was established in 1964 with research projects for research and rehabilitation in the Christian Medical College and Hospital. Currently the Center provides facilities for 300 visually impaired persons annually. The Christoffel Bundimission and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment provide financial assistance to the Center. The Center also offers facilities in counseling, medical relief, secondary education and training.

In 1963, the Swedish Red Cross began a Rehabilitation Industry Workshop in India that offered vocational training for people with disabilities caused by Hansen's disease. Currently, WORTH is an independent trust providing counseling, outreach and physio-therapy to assist children with disabilities and their parents. It operates a residential transitional school for children while preparing young people to move into regular schools. More than 600 children with disabilities have received rehabilitation in the transitional facility and have moved into mainstream schools. The Worth Trust operates three technical training centers, five production centers and two training centers offering instruction in computer and office skills.

Akshay Pratishthan operates at the district and state levels with a multidisciplinary approach. The Center provides integrated education to the able and disabled with students from nursery to Class VIII and offers a workshop for the assembling of mobility aids such as shoes, crutches, calipers and prosthesis.


2. District Disability Rehabilitation Centers
 

District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRC) under Gramin Punarvas Yojna is a nation-wide program of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The objective of the program is to provide total rehabilitation to all PWDs. 107 districts from various parts of the country are selected whereby the District Centers are established in collaboration with the State Governments, National Institutes District Rehabilitation Centers and ALIMCO.
